Kudos is a new content rating system that lets you vote for the messages you think are the most useful or important.

When you give Kudos to a message, you are offering a thumbs up for good content and a pat on the back to its author. Your Kudos help to boost the value of certain messages and enhance the reputation of their authors.

Some common questions...

How do I give Kudos?

You can give Kudos to any posts in the community, except for your own.

To give Kudos to a message and its author:

* Click the Kudos! badge on the message.

If you change your mind about the quality of the message, you can revoke your Kudos.

To revoke Kudos you've given:

    * Choose Options > Revoke My Kudos from this Message.

The Kudos count is updated and the Kudos badge shows that you can now give the message Kudos again.

How can I see who's given me Kudos?

Want to know who thinks your messages are Kudo-worthy? Your Profile page is the place to start. You can also see Kudos activity for other community members on their Profile pages.

To see who's given you Kudos:

   1. Click your login name to go to your Profile page.
      Your Profile pages shows the names of community members who gave you Kudos, the messages they Kudoed, your top Kudoed messages, and the Kudos you've given.
   2. To see all of your recent Kudos activity in an area, click the view all link at the bottom of the list.
      Your Kudos Activity page shows the recent Kudos you've given or received.
   3. Click the tabs to see more info about your Kudos activity.

How can I see which messages or authors have received the most Kudos?

There are usually two Kudos leaderboards -- one for authors and another for messages -- on the community's front page. The author's leaderboard shows who has received the most Kudos. The message leaderboard showcases the most Kudoed messages.

Links from the front-page leaderboards take you to the full leaderboard pages.

To view the Top Kudoed Messages leaderboard:

    * Click the view all link from the front page module.

To view the Top Kudoed Authors leaderboard:

    * Click the view all link from the front page module.

How can I see who else has given Kudos to a message?

Want to know who thinks a message is good? It's easy to kind out which regular community members and community experts have given Kudos to a message. Kudos that come from community experts carry more weight -- literally -- than those that come from brand new members.

To see who's given Kudos to a message:

   1. Go to the message page.
   2. Click the Kudos! total.
      The Who Kudoed this Message page shows you all the community members who've given Kudos to the message.
   3. Click the Experts tab to see Kudos given by high-ranking members of the community.
      Experts are usually moderators and other users who had a Kudos weight of more than 1 when they gave the message Kudos.
   4. Click the User Name or Kudos link to sort this page by the name of the user who gave Kudos or by the Kudos count.

What is Kudos weight?

Your Kudos weight is the number of Kudos you give each time you click a Kudos! badge. If you're new in the community, you probably give Kudos one at a time (your Kudos weight is 1). More experienced community members might have a higher Kudos weight, so they could give two Kudos, ten Kudos, or more each time they click.

Why can't I give Kudos to some messages?

There are a few reasons why you might not be able to give Kudos to a post.

    * You've already given Kudos to this message (you can only give them once).
    * You wrote the message (you can't Kudo your own messages).
    * Your community manager wants you to give Kudos only to a message that starts a thread and not to replies.
    * Your community manager has turned Kudos off for a message or a forum.
    * Your community manager has frozen Kudos for this message. You can still see how many Kudos the message has received, but you can't Kudo it any more.

Where did the Kudos number go?

Sometimes a message gets so many Kudos that we run out of space to show the number. When that happens you'll see a Hot Kudos symbol or icon instead of the Kudos count on the Kudos badge.

Our forums are offered as a service and resource to our customers. We hope you will find them an effective means to exchange ideas, tips, information, and more. But like any online community, members must abide by simple guidelines and rules for online behavior, which makes the forums work best. Here are those guidelines and rules. By registering you agree to follow these Usage Guidelines, in addition to the Legal Terms & Conditions.

Be confident. If you are new to Crucial forums and are unsure about anything, just ask! The moderators and other participants are eager to help. Crucial forum moderators are identified by moderator icon.

Be in the right place. Forums are a place where customers help customers. If you need Crucial's customer service, please use the phone, email, and live chat options available through our customer support team. Just go to our Contacts page to learn more.

The Crucial Community Forums were created as a resource for Crucial customers, not as a place to vent frustrations or highlight negative experiences with Crucial products. Accounts created for the sole purpose of complaining may be banned or restricted, unless those posts are appropriate or constructive. If you are dissatisfied with any Crucial product or service, please contact customer service.

Be relevant. Because our forums are provided for users and customers to help each other with Crucial products, we'd like our forum users to stay on topic. Please do not use these forums to discuss personal matters, criticize any company or product, or post anything not directly related to Crucial products and services. Discussions about participant bans and other Moderator actions taken against users are strictly prohibited.

If you wish to inquire about a moderator action, please send a PM to a moderator for more information. Although the moderation team will attempt to address the inquiry, we cannot guarantee such or that you will be satisfied with the response.

Be nice. We require our forum users to avoid posting anything unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, harassing, threatening, harmful, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory or otherwise objectionable or injurious to third parties. Your opinions are always welcome, but personal attacks and harassment ("flaming")--in the forums or through private messaging—are not acceptable.

Be spam-free. Our forums are not intended for the promotion of third party services, products, websites, or organizations. Do not post content that would be considered advertising, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of unauthorized solicitation. Please note that duplicating a post in the same or multiple forums will be deemed as spam.

A note on our competitors:

We created our forums as a resource for Crucial memory product customers. For that reason, we do not allow discussions, positive or negative, of competing products or their suppliers by name on this forum. Posts or threads that mention competitors' names will be edited or deleted at our discretion, and company names will be filtered out from public view.

If you have comments or questions about a competitor's product, please contact that company for help. If you have questions about products that do not directly compete with Crucial memory (such as operating systems, video cards, etc.), post them in the appropriate sub-forum.

Be legal. It is unacceptable to post any material that infringes upon on any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other proprietary rights of any party

o contains software viruses or any other computer code or files that are designed to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software or hardware,
o deemed to be illegal by any local, state, federal, or international law.

Be cautious. Most community members are happy to help out on these forums, but remember that their advice is personal—you bear the responsibility for deciding whether or not to follow it. If the advice given by a user sounds wrong to you, you shouldn't try it. Even more important: do not share any personal information with other members, including an account number, address, password or credit card number.

Be aware: Crucial reserves the right to remove content and limit users' access.
