I have the late 2008 unibody mbp, 2.4 dual core with 2gb ram.
I just installed 4 gb of ram and in osx it says i have 4gb installed but when i am running XP on bootcamp it says i have 2.97gb installed. I understand windows doesn't list all available ram as it keep some for other processes but is 2.97GB normal? It just seems 1.03gb of ram is alot to waste
Can anyone clarify this?

Hello,
It sounds like you have a 32-bit version of Windows which is causing the limitation. You can confirm this by looking in Control Panel> System> General tab.
A 32-bit OS will only see and utilise around 3GB when more is installed. The only way around this is to upgrade to a 64-bit OS and ensure you also have a 64-bit CPU.
