DDR2 Ballistix Tracer 1066MHz one stick has slower LED's

just wondering if this is covered by the warranty, bought 4 sticks of DDR2 tracer a few months back and the lights on one of the sticks go really slow compared to the others with 64bit and 32bit OS, tried changing the slot its in and I have found that the when the lights on the stick work properly the PC performs terribly and when they don't work like the others its ok.

Hard problem to explain really but its annoying that one sticks lights are going slower than the others especially with the window in my case.

Re: DDR2 Ballistix Tracer 1066MHz one stick has slower LED's

The LEDs on a Tracer module are connected directly to the ICs on the circuit board, that's why they move faster when your computer works harder. Based on the LED movement you describe there might actually be something wrong with the module. An easy way to verify that is to run memtest86+ on that part, installed alone in a known good memory slot. If the module fails memtest, our Customer Support department can set up an exchange for you. You can contact them directly or use the links on our RMA page to request an exchange.

Be sure to use the proper link for your location, and reference this thread so they can see the troubleshooting you have done. Note also that if the module was a part of a dual channel kit, we recommend that you exchange both of them, so you can continue to run in dual channel.

Re: DDR2 Ballistix Tracer 1066MHz one stick has slower LED's

Thanks for your reply, I had kind of given up as this is the second post that I have made about the same problem, first one seemed to have gotten ignored, I'll run memtest ASAP now that someone bothered to reply. Like I mentioned in the post when the sticks lights work properly my PC doesn't and when the lights don't work properly my PC does, that was fairly simple to confirm by using the winrar test, another thing is that I have 2 pairs, one pair has near matching serial numbers, only the last letter changes, but this pair are completely odd sticks, their serial numbers look nothing alike, I'll run the test this weekend and see what results I get, speak soon.
