Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

Colt,

I understand you are very frustrated with the situation you have been through, and I am sorry to hear that you feel you've been mistreated. However, I would like to remind you that the purpose of this forum community is for our customers to help each other with problems they are having with Crucial products. Your opinions and your knowledge are both appreciated, but I have to ask you to keep your posts constructive and helpful from here on. A lot of the forum users that come here expect to find help with any issues they have with Crucial products, and too many off-topic posts makes that more difficult for them.

If you are unhappy with Crucial's products or customer service, you are welcome to contact us directly, using email, chat or phone.

Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

I have to disagree to an extent.

The forum is just that, an open FORUM to share our experience.

Are all replacements refurbs? If so then I probably know my next step.

Is Ballistix ram speed binned? Or are they different chips for different speeds?

I keep seeing dodge, dodge, dodge - but no real answers. Could you at least answer these two questions above?

I could call - but I hate being on hold, I hate explaining my story over and over and over again, I get the typical dodgie responses - and in the end I get an rma. By posting here others that are having the same responses can also see it.

My experience is similar to Colt's. 20+ years in the industry. Degree in MIS and Comp Eng. I have used nearly every hardware/software diagnostic tool out there but find it easiest to fall back to memtest etc. This is a FORUM and that is what the community sees as an acceptable test.

Performance memory is often purchased for overclockers - I only ask the advertised speeds (which NONE of them have ever run at when set to spd) and Colt can't even get that out of them.

Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

Understood. I didnt mean it as an attack. It was part bitching, part informative. Unfortunately, as good a problem solver as I am, I can find no constructive means to a soulition. I feel I have been lied to and decieved by one of my long standing manufacturers, and I dont see any resoulition other than to blacklist Micron.

I'm not apologizing for what I said, but I know I can be rather abrasive at times, and for that I will try to be, well..... I'm not sure what I could do better.....

What constructive means would you recommend when you feel betrayed and cheated (twice), and your only recourse is to pony up 15k to sue Micron?

Gabbiani,

Yes, you are welcome to share your experiences here, and your opinions are always appreciated, but it is still more helpful for everyone if you do it in a constructive manner. Rest assured that we are not trying to censor anyone. We do however ask that you follow the User Guidelines and keep your posts on topic and constructive.

As to your questions, per the terms of our warranty we reserve the right to substitute functionally equivalent new or serviceable used parts when replacing a product on an RMA. All replacement memory is thoroughly tested to ensure it is up to its rated specifications, and the warranty applies in full to the replacement parts.

All Ballistix components are specially selected and thoroughly tested at the component level and module level to ensure they meet their rated specifications. If the parts are rated at 1333MHz, that means they have ran successfully at that speed in our tests, and that's why they are rated that way.

Would you mind telling us the BIOS version you are using on the motherboard? With that information we can work with the board manufacturer to look into this issue and ensure that our product is compatible. If we find there is an incompatibility with a specific motherboard or  BIOS revision, we will either remove it from our Crucial memory advisor or will post BIOS revision notes in our tech support database for future reference. We work closely with our industry partners and have in the past been able to address similar situations with BIOS updates, or with changes to our testing or manufacturing procedure. We appreciate your help in investigating this.

Colt,

Would you mind posting your motherboard model and BIOS revision as well?

Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

[ Edited ]

The system this was installed in was an ASROCK 775Dual-VSTA. Cheap **bleep** board, but was selected for very sepcific features. The RAM was also tested in an Asus board. Dont remember the specific model number at this time, I can get back to you later on that. I have like a hundred things going ATM, including a large bonfire I'm about to grill steaks over. However, My friend had access to a memory testor that failed the Ballistix 12 times. I dont know the model number of that one, but it said "RAMCHECK" "DDR2 series" and the label said it would go up to 800Mhz for DDR2 (mine was 667). He showed me other RAM that passed because I had a hard time believing it.

Anyway, I didnt do any of that on the RMA set, it worked fine for awhile, then just degraded over time, like the turtle slowly, but surely (errors and crashes more, and more frequent) (NO SYSTEM CHANGES). However I did use memtest+ on both systems for the first set, and compared to the corsair that was going into the Asus board. The Corsiar passed the AsRock board, and the Asus board in 12 hour tests that the Ballistix failed.

I think the AsRock BIOS was 1.4 or 1.5 (latest) as of Nov '08. The Asus was updated to the latest for that board in the same month. I have no idea of the firmware on the RAMCHECK machine, but it was new, and all my friend told me was that 'it cost alot' how much? 'A {word filter evasion} lot' man' :smileyhappy: so ( didnt ask anymore) they sold RAM at shows and such, so they really had to have such a device. He must have told me a hundred times "You should have bought the RAM from me" "Shaddup and drink your beer" I said, LOL

I can get back to you with the Asus model number, but think your spinning your wheels. Keep in mind The AsRock, and the Asus were both stable with the corsiar, and the AsRock is stable with generic RAM now. Same BIOS setting BTW. I can even push the generic RAM harder if I wish, I know because I did extensive testing to eliminate the board as the culprit.

I can no longer test both the Ballistix sticks as I took one stick out this morning as a target. I just got a new extended barrel for my SIG, and I wanted to see if it made any accuracy difference. It was negligible, but none the less one stick is in a billion pieces, the other to shortly follow.

I really have no desire to do further testing. I have spent so much time  (in the past) on this, and it had far exceded what I make in hourly wages. I could have bought the compeditors RAM three times over now with the time I've spent But thats just me, I test to the Nth degree. But when I'm dont I'm done. I could tell you companies I never shopped with again from the 80's and 90's. So whatever, whatever........

Fool me once Shame on you, fool me twice......

.............  Fool me twice wont wont be fooled again :smileytongue: LOL

It aint the first time I've been screwed. I aint mad, just resolved.

Good Luck Katana

Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

BTW I censored myown word and the stupid filter still censored it retarded.

As an addendum to my last post. ANY company thats policy is to RMA products with refurbished and never new replacements will not ever get my business. That is just one more reason not to buy from Micron again.

Good Luck with that,

Colt

Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

Thats not very forum like....

Care to share with the rest of us?

So the answers to my questions were a very dodgie yes its refurbed and yes its all the same chips we just test them at different speeds. So the new 800 is failed 1066. So "maybe" my 1066 will live longer.

Re: Dear crucial - Why do you continue to ignore your customers?

So is there where support ends?

You keep deleting posts you don't like. For anyone viewing this there is information missing because the mods keep deleting it.

Crucial continues to point the finger at me even though I have done EVERYTHING support can come up with. The fact that I built a second computer because of your company is ludicrous. Next time they die its one more rma and then off to ebay for someone else to deal with them.

I can't believe the practices I'm seeing from a company with the history of micron, lexar, and crucial.
