Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

I experienced the same freezing problem after cloning my Win10 system on a new Crucial MX300 SDD.

For me the problem was solved by  Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, which I found on the support webpage of my motherboard msi Z170I

Hope it helps

Dear All
I’m just SSD newbie , and like to report further problems encountered and ways of improvement if being taken. Dear big brothers, pls share your solution of improvements in solving the freezing of Crucial SSD on Windows 10 PC.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

I uninstalled Acronis and enabled momentum Cache and it seems to work fine now.  I may get more RAM to make up for the RAM that momentum cache uses.  I currently have 8GB's and may go to 16GB's.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

Thanks to this forum I uninstalled Acronis and my Delll Latitude E6430 running Win 10 no longer locks up.

I am running the 'iometer' utility which generates 100% disk activity at 5 MBytes/ second and also running an application which communicates heavily over a USB port at the same time, and have absolute stability for over 2 hours now.

My only mistake was sturggling 3 weeks before I recognized the lockup was due to the SDD rather than USB drivers.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

This may be useful only to desktop users, but after having the identical freezing issues described here and trying almost all solutions posted here and elsewhere, it was baronerossoit's post that ended months of instabilty for me -- thank you for sharing this soludtion.

My Gigabyte Z87X-UDFH has two storage controllers (one Intel and one Marvell) which each controls its own bank of SATA ports. When I upgraded my old Samsung SSD & HDD combo to the new MX300 I paid no attention to the specific SATA ports in use thinking it wasn't important and had items attached to each controller. Turns out my problems were solved completely by plugging all my drives (SSD, DVD & case-based external connections) into the Intel bank of ports.

I  didn't even try the Marvell ports since Option 1 worked on the first attempt so I can't offer any insight to the technical reason for the hangups.  Hopefully this account will be useful to others.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

Hi,

I recently cloned my HDD to the Crucial MX300 SSD using AOMEI Partitioner and I was having the freezing issue. THis was on my Lenovo y50-70 and what I believed fixed my issue was installing the Intel RST driver which was specific to my laptop. Prior to this my SSD would stop read/write processes and I had to force shut down to reboot my PC. So far after doing file transfers for ~30 mins I have not had any freezing. I will update if something comes back but so far so good.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

FINALLY!

For me, I had to use the Intel drivers instead of the Microsoft drivers, for the SATA AHCI driver (under the drivers, "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"

To find the right driver:

1. Right click on existing driver, and click Properties

2. Go to "Details" and then under Property, where it says "Device Description" change it to "Device Instance Path" and then copy that long line under Value.

For example:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C03&SUBSYS_1658103C&REV_05\3&11583659&0&FA

Then, use Google or whatever to search for that driver, download, install.

There may be other ways to get the right driver, but only method that worked for me.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME) - SOLVED

Same problem on an AMD plattform and same solution as on the Intel Plattform.

You need to install the AMD AHCI SATA Drivers (manually) through the Device Manager and the problem is gone.

In my case on a Acer Aspire 1551 that was the AMD 15.7.1 Chipset Driver.

Works like a charm afterwards.

Re: Crucial MX300 SDD - Windows 10 Freezing (HELP ME)

I had the same issue! Here are a couple of methods that I found to fix it.

Fix#1. Disconnect All Devices

Disconnect all external USB devices even including the mouse and keyboard from the computer and then boot up to check if they are the causes of random computer freezes.

Fix#2. Check for faulty hardware

Damaged hardware is one of the factors that can trigger computer freezing issue. But if the issue only happens in Windows 10, we can confirm that there is nothing wrong with your hardware.

Fix#3. Uninstall Incompatible Programs

Did you install any new programs before your computer freezing? If yes, it might the problem. Please try to uninstall them to see if it helps.

These generally works for 90% of the time but if it doesn't work for you then you can refer to other available methods.

This answer from Microsoft might come handy too. Cheers.
