New 5K iMac Late 2014

Hello,

I did lots of reading here and elsewhere, but still not sure I purchased the correct product.

Here is what I bought from Amazon:

CT2CP10246BF160B

Each simm in the kit has the following number:

CT102464BF160B

Thanks very much for the help!

Mike

Re: New 5K iMac Late 2014

Did some more looking on the Crucial website and found the following.

I bought two of these:

CT102464BF160B
Brand: Crucial
Form Factor: SODIMM
Module Size: 8GB
Warranty: Limited Lifetime
Specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 •

This is what Crucial normally recommends:

CT6313736
Brand: Crucial
Form Factor: SODIMM
Module Size: 16GB kit (8GBx2)
Warranty: Limited Lifetime
Specs: DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 • lead free • halogen free • for Mac

Looks the same to me. Could I be missing anything?

Thanks!

Re: New 5K iMac Late 2014

Hi MemoryLoss,

Thank you for contacting us today. It appears that both memory modules are very similar. CT6313736 is the part number for a kit of two 8GB memory modules. It is also a Mac specific part. CT102464BF160B is generic memory for DDR3 systems that require SODIMMs. If you use CT102464BF160B in your iMac you shouldn't have any issues since they do have the same specifications. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns about these memory upgrades.

Re: New 5K iMac Late 2014

I bought CT2C8G3S160BM for iMac 5K. Is this the right RAM, will it work  or should swap for different SKU? What is proper SKU fro iMac 5K? Thanks!

Hi MJWeb,

If you have the iMac 3.5GHZ Quad Core Intel Core i7 Mac then this is the correct RAM for your system. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Craig,

Yes, this part has been tested with the iMac 4.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 (27-inch, Late 2014) model. We can guarantee that it will work.

Best regards,
