Maximum Memory vs. Manufacturer Supported Memory

Is the Maximum Memory the same thing as the Manufacturer Supported Memory? Meaning, if I upgrade my PC to the threshold of the Maximum Memory, is this the same Maximum Memory supported by the Manufacturer?

My Scan Stats below:

Your ASUS X550ZA system specs as shipped

memory
  • Maximum Memory:16GB
  • Standard Memory:4GB removable
  • Slots:2 (2 banks of 1)
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
