New Crucial 8GB Gizmo worked for a few days and then failed to be recognized by the computer. Windows XP pro.
Device manager shows the yellow exclamation point next to the device with:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
The flash drive works in other computers.
How do I fix the registry?
Thanks

If the Gizmo is working ok in other computers the problem lies with the software on the computer that is giving you the error message. You can get help for this through Microsoft, I found the following support on it, looks like it is a driver issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310123
Before doing anything, I would recommend any files you have on the Gizmo are backed up
I hope this helps!

This problem didn't occur until I started using the Gizmo. Other flash drives work fine in my computer. Perhaps I should just return the Gizmo and use another brand?

We want to get this problem resolved for you by providing you with some troubleshooting steps. What I was advising above is that if it works in other PC's it is more than likely not a faulty drive so replacing it might not resolve the problem. Now that you're saying other drives work ok in that same PC perhaps there is something between that PC and our Gizmo that is causing an issue.
In addition to the steps in the above post, you could also try formatting the drive. If this does not help then you can certainly return it for a replacement or refund. You can use the relevant link for your location below:
