Hello,
I would like to get a memory stick to use to play music in a hifi stero which has a USB plug. However, it says that the stick must be FAT16 or FAT32 formatted in order to work. Is this the format of the Crucial sticks?
Thank you,
Penny.

Hi Penny,
Most USBs would be of the file type FAT. Our USB sticks are plug and play so no formatting or drivers are required. However, if you need a specific file format type for your usage, we would recommend formatting it before you begin using it.
Please follow these instructions to format your flash device using Windows.
1. Open My Computer and right click on the drive letter/icon corresponding to the flash device.
2. From the pop out menu select 'Format'
3. In the Format window select the following, File System = FAT32, Allocation Size = Default, Volume Label = <Type a name of choice>, Quick Format Box = Unchecked.
4. Click start.
5. You will then receive a message when formatting is complete.
I hope this helps but please let us know if you require any further support.

If you are not able to format your Gizmo! at all, and have tried it on several different computers, the easiest solution is to simply replace the USB drive. Please contact our Customer Support department or use the links on our RMA page to request an exchange. Be sure to use the proper link for your location, and reference this thread so they can see the troubleshooting you have done.
