Looking forward to Crucial's response to this. I have same problem: received item ordered from Apple Store today & neither of 2 Macintoshes recognizes it. (It does show up in System Profiler with all the specifications spelled out -- including DOS Fat32 file format -- but it doesn't mount on the desktop). Tried it on a Windows machine, works fine there!

Hi ae3 and brodie63,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with the drive.  The flash drive should work in the Mac's no problem without having to configure anything. However to try to troubleshoot what may be causing the issue, I would recommend that you try reformatting the drive in the Mac to see if this resolves the issue.

Please follow these instructions to format your Gizmo!

1. Select the "Finder"
2. Select "Applications"
3. Select "Utilities"
4. Select "Disk Utility"
5. Select the Gizmo drive
6. Select "Erase"

7. Select “MS-DOS File system” as the volume format. This will allow the drive to be used on both Windows and Mac operating systems.

8. Click “Erase”

9. Once the drive has finished formatting the drive should automatically mount and be shown on the desktop. If not, select the drive and click the “Mount” button.

I hope this helps but let us know if you continue to have problems.

Hi -- thanks very much, that works perfectly. (I had thought of reformatting but I didn't know how to do it)
