Can i mix KTT and KVR DDR2 RAM chips?

My laptop was running on a kingston KVR553D2S4/1G and the web site tells me for my laptop i can use KTT533D2/1G. Dont they both need to be exactly the same?

Hello,
Do they have to be exactly the same? Well, it's recommended that they do but it's not required to.
For optimal performance and compatibility it's recommended to use matched pairs of the same brand/model but under normal circumstances there is no problem in using different brands. A lot of people mix and match RAM, just make sure you buy sticks with the same capacity and speed to your own to increase compatibility.
