Re: Crucial Wiper tool now available in the forum

[ Edited ]

Seeing Intel ICH8M under the IDE ATA/ATAPI link is normal. Find you SSD under the Disk Drive link in Device Manager and pull up the properties on it. Click over to the Driver Tab and tell me if you see Microsoft under there. Mine shows Microsoft and driver version 6.1.7600.16385. I believe that is the driver being used to talk to the drive. See if yours is using Microsoft or Intel.

I don't really even know if this is your issue or not, but I figure this is a good place to start.

Re: Crucial Wiper tool now available in the forum

When I had my drive setup in AHCI mode, wiper used to take hours to complete and I noticed some poor performance in Windows 7 64bit and a few crashes.

Now I am running the drive in IDE mode and wiper takes a few mins to complete and the performance is also better than running in AHCI mode and zero crashes...

Crucial wiper tool doesn't work here either. Nor sanitary erase. And the updates didn't work properly either.

When I switch to IDE mode, my Windows install would blue screen on boot up.

Does for me too - that's why I run it form a Bart PE disk rather than my operating system disk.  You can apparently run it from the console you can access from the repair mode of the windows setup disc too.

Re: Crucial Wiper tool now available in the forum

Hello,

I run the wiper tool on a M225 with WIn7 64Bits in administrator mode. Everything runs fine except that the wiper tool only works with "C" drive and not with "D" drive which is the 2nd partition on the SSD. Is it normal ?

Best regards

Does VM Ware provide direct access to the drive? I wouldn't have thought so - surely you have virtual drives with OS installs on?  That's how virtual PC works anyway.

Patatorz, do you have your drive in IDE or AHCI mode?
