Yes I think so... just wait and get lucky... The oficial web of Crucial or OWC are good webs to buy? (return policy).
I bought from Amazon. They have an excellent return policy. I had no trouble exchanging the first drive and returning both.

Hello there.
I am a proud owner of M4 256GB. At the same beginning I had a lot of beachballing, then updated the FW to 009 plus installed Petter's no-beachball-fix (safe version), and now it's working like a rocket (on OSX Lion 10.7.1, MBPro 13" Early 2011 model).
Now i have two questions:
1. when can be expected the official FW update from Crucial, to prevent beachballs?
2. what about TRIM? I have it enabled right now, facing 1-2% performance loss (according to DiskSpeedTest). Do you recommend enabling/disabling TRIM on OSX?
Thanks and best regards from Slovenia.

I too have a 2011 15" i7 2.3 GHz MBP and I've successfully installed the 512 GB M4 SSD with the 0009 firmware. I did a clean install of Lion 10.7.1 and it's up and running without any problems whatsoever. I am thinking about TRIM and how one should enable it. There seems to be some confusion, probably on my part alone, about the optimal way of doing this with Lion.
What has been the optimal way of enabling TRIM for the M4 with Lion 10.7.1? Thanks in advance for your comments.

I have enabled it as this post says:

Until now, it's running without any problem (Lion 10.7.1). Good luck.

Anyone applied the new macbook firmware update yet? Noticed any differences? I don't expect anything as no SSD/AHCI related fixes were mentioned in the release

My drive actually will format now, when before it failed. Attempting to install OSX now. Something changed for sure.![]()

I noticed that IOAHCIFamily.kext has been update to new version 2.0.7 so its cause TRIM back to disable, but you can patch again to enable TRIM.

It WORKS!

I've got the 128GB M4 in my 2011 15" MBP and it works fine...apart from my battery life has taken a hammering ![]()
Has anyone experienced the same issue?
I was really expecting it to actually get better with the SSD installed, so I'm going to return the drive if I can't sort it out since battery life is probably more important to me than performance (which is fantastic with the drive by the way).

Anyone tried removing the ahci hack and trim? I'm thinking about stripping away all unecessary hacks/etc off the mbp now that it's all working hunkydory?
