ReFIT worked for me fine. It should work for you.

I can confirm this issue on my MBP as well. It's older, so it doesn't have EFI 1.7 - it's at 1.3. Booting off of any non-OSX drive just stops working.
Is this likely to be resolved in the upcoming firmware?

Anyone had a chance to see if 1916 resolves this issue?

Haven't had a chance to try it myself. Does anyone have documentation on how to update the firmware on a MacBook?

I pulled the drive out, put it into my Windows box and flashed it. No combination of refit + boot disks allowed me to flash it installed on my Macbook3,1.
Bootcamp still not working for me. I'm going to give it one last go, but the latest firmware doesn't seem to address this issue.

Well, now I know why I can't boot from the firmware cd on my macbook pro. I replaced the stock drive with a 320GB sata drive for 2 years and now have the 256GB SSD in it now. I've been trying for a day now to boot from a windows disc and couldn't figure out the problem. I've never run bootcamp having used Fusion since it was beta, but I can't boot a Windows 7 disc in my machine either.
I guess I will have to pull the drive and flash it in a PC.

Unfortunately it doesn't sound like flashing the drive to the latest firmware resolves the issue.

I've been following the "yank the drive out and plug it into a different machine" methodology. It's pretty fantastic if you're on this model of MacBook, which takes about 24 screws and a Torx T6 to swap the drive in.
