If you've had your drive a while it was probably a bug fixed by the firmware.
The Intel 6 series sata 3 controllers are great paired with the M4.

by way of follow up, I have re-plugged into SATA3 with no ill effect so far. That improved speed. Here is the new benchmark.
And then here is even more speed, re-tested with my Win8 OS:
Thanks again!

Interesting, so is there a new AHCI driver in Windows 8, called storahci?

Isn't this very low? Using i7 2600k, ASUS p67pro motherboard, 8gb ram, windows7 64bit, everything updated to latest firmware.

I did find this a while back, so maybe DooRules results are simple differences between the runs, or are they 100% repeatable and always the same Doo?

*Edit* I tried to install, but no luck, and I think it's due to not having the proper inf file, but the one shown here looks to be the correct one, so maybe other drivers are also needed, or it needs modified, not sure? But I do see these nice little tidbits that may help SSD users!

I bet Fernando from here could get it going for us, if he has the time to play and somebody wants to ask him

I would think it is just the difference between runs bud.
ps... figured W8 out, running perfectly now, I had installed MSE every time, (security essentials ), it has a major conflict with the OS. That was the cause of ALL my isues, running like a trooper now.

So MSE screwed up Win 8? Weird, does MSE run on Vista or XP? New release of MSE needed for compatibility with Win 8? Just the pre-release version of Win 8 that will do this with MSE? Yeah, I know, who knows...
So you're saying storahci is basically the same as msahci performance wise? It looked like the writes had improved a bit, but that could be just the state of the PC during that run of AS SSD.
