2 consecutive wipes has restored my performance! Thanks Katana - I'm most grateful ![]()
I got
sequential read 193 write 97
512k read 154 write 96
4k read 29, write 11.5
up from after the new firmware and 1 wipe (approximate figures)
sequential read 170 write 60
512k read 140 write 50
4k read 30 write 6.5
My results with the old firmware (no wipe) were
Sequential read 190, write 83.5
512k read 151.5, write 73
4k read 29, write 9
So the reads are back in line with the old firmware and the writes are improved (probably cause of the wiping)

The first time I used wiper a few days ago which had no effect took 8 hours as my PC is in raid mode. I wasn;t going to wait for 2 lots of that so I switched the bios to IDE mode and did it from a Bart PE disc, wipe once, reboot, wipe again, reboot and back into raid mode.
So there were 2 differences in the latest wipe - whether they had any effect or not I don't know. 1) the wiper was using IDE rather than going through Intels Matrix drivers 2) wiper wasn't running on the disk used to boot Windows that particular boot.
All I need now is for Intel to update their **bleep** drivers for Trim support and I'm sorted!

This forum software bleeps out really mild words doesn't it? It looks like we're sat here swearing at each other all day lol

I hope you're right but don't be so confident. Wait a few hours and rebench and we'll see how your results will be. My speeds were always restored just after a wipe....but as soon as i wrote some files, they did deteriorate again massively.

@target - your write speed is only 97ish MBps. Shouldn't it be 190ish or do you not have the 128GB or bigger size drive.

Couldn't get the wiper software to recognise my 1819 drive under Win 7 RC on a Mac Pro.
Drive was definately seen by windows, as i reformatted it and it mounted as drive E.
But wiper software said it couldn't run on C,D, or E

No I've only got a 64gb.
The specs for it says write speed is 150mb/sec but as I posted above it never did that on the old firmware either. *shrug*
Wiper says that if you haven't run it as an administrator. It's not sufficient to simply be logged onto Windows as an administrator, you have to specifically right click it and choose run as administrator as it does not request the elevated privileges it needs itself.

It's hard to find reviews of 60gb Indilinx drives to compare my drive to as all the manufacturers want their faster 128gb's reviewed i guess. I did find 1 review and it seems to depend on the benchmark you're using. cdrinfo's review of a rival 60gb Indilinx drive recorded a 230mb read and a 150mb write in atto and the same drive scored 190 read and 90 write in crystal which is what I used so I guess i'm on track!

Yep 64GB indilinx drives score 190/90 with Crystaldiskmark and as ssd. Only Atto will give you 230/150.
There's a pretty big difference of perfs between a 64GB and 128GB models...But as said above how could we possibly know that ???? Since all the reviewed drives are 128GB or 256GB models.
