It's been quite a while since any update had been posted by Crucial on this matter. I am starting to lose any hope they will provide any information or that they are even testing at all. I think I have been more than patient over this issue. My patient is starting to wane. Also I am starting to regret picking Crucial over other vendor's who seem to support their customers faster and more frequently.

I hope you're right but don't be so confident. Wait a few hours and rebench and we'll see how your results will be. My speeds were always restored just after a wipe....but as soon as i wrote some files, they did deteriorate again massively.
You win! ![]()
Been using the drive normally for what 2 and a half weeks now and winrar decided to dump 7 gb of temporary files on the ssd despite being set not to use temporary space so I guess I'd now overwritten all my free space.
The result was a benchmark nosedive. Crystal reporting 165 read, 20 ( !! ) write. Atto 90 ( !! ) read, 30 ( !! ) write.
Existing data on the drive seemed subjectively fine. I assume benchmarks write their own new files to the drive for read tests so they're getting the exact file size they need to test? So it's like anything written to the drive after its been filled once has poor performance.
I ran wiper, twice even, and it didn't restore the full performance, left it as I was at the start of the thread after the firmware update. 165 read, 65 write in crystal, 165 read 90 write in atto.
Now to be fair I'd never benchmarked the disk on the old firmware after more than 2 weeks use so it's possible this is the degradation caused simple by the drive being dirty and that's what this firmware is meant to fix with Trim (I've got Intel drivers but don't support trim yet)
But the fact that a fair few people around here are unhappy with 1819 (surely some of them support trim?) and they all seem happy with 1571 (and surely some of them tested in 1571 whatever slowed down 1819) suggests something else is at play. Has anyone that downgraded to 1571 run any benchmarks lately after the drive has been filled?

Yes mate i've been back on 1571 for about 2 weeks and my benchmarks are still flat out 262/195 and i've not wiped once!
1819 is a miserable fail IMO.

My twopenny worth:=
I must agree that the almost complete lack of response to basic questions is becoming for me very dissapointing. I was in the computer industry for over 40 years, support and manufacturing, so fully understand the problems that can be encountered, especially with new products and the methods used to introduce them on to the market these days, but silence, especially when publishing new firmware, is in my opinion not acceptable. I found it amazing the way the new firmware was introduced, seemingly leaving people to help each other with no appropriate support.
I had my own service department for 6 years, (a private company), and would not have lasted 6 months if I had not responded to my customers request for information. I have not posted a great deal, as basically I felt sympathetic towards Crucial, as they seem totally reliant on their supplier for updates, and presumeably information, but I would respectfully suggest somebody starts reading these posts, and answer, and not leave it to other "customers" to try to make up for the deffincies! Where I live, the price of a Crucial SSD is now only 10% cheaper than their main rival, it was 33% when I bought mine, so wake up and start responding professionally or you will start losing customers, their are far too many unanswered posts in this forum which are asking real questions on support issues.

Just did my morning tour of the other Indilinx brands forums to catch up on the latest gossip. Seems the guys at OCZ are in talks with microsoft over why the trim firmware isn't working well. Seems their garbage collection firmware is working fine though.
I wish there was a non destructive 1571 firmware. As I can't use trim anyway until Intel get their act together, I could find a good use for that!

Hi Brian,
I appreciate your frustrations and concerns. However this community is a place for users to help each other out it is not a Crucial support channel. Crucial moderators are present to oversee the community and manage posts as necessary and will respond to posts that have been left unanswered for a certain period or as needed. If you would like to speak to us directly you can use one of our three contact methods; telephone, email or live chat where one of our agents will be happy to assist you.
The firmware was released with install guides and our support team provided additional help to those who contacted us directly just like other users helped each other out for those who chose to come here for advice.
I understand a lot of users may be waiting for updates from us and as soon as we have information we will post it here. I have requested updates from the lab regarding performance issues and also a wiper tool for RAID users and will post back as soon as I have this.
I do apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your feedback and patience in this matter.

OCZ have come up with a guide to fresh install Windows on the Trim firmware that apparently means it maintains its performance. You have to wipe and reinstall (imaging is not good enough) so I'm gonna await a few verdicts before going to that much hassle myself! It involves the use of a freespace wiper they've had modified to wipe SSD's rather than hard disks.

A total reinstall from scratch is a nightmare. ![]()
Takes me a good 8hrs to get everything reinstalled, tweaked and customized how I like it.
One of the very reasons I do image backups is save myself that hassle.
