My company order us to setup a password on the HDD (on every HDD in the Thinkpad).

I have set up this password, one month ago, and the drive become unusable. (see pict)

Has anyone already try to setup a HDD password on his SSD ?

Looking at the 1819 firmware change log it does not look like this issue has been addressed.

Maybe Crucial can test it for you so you don't brick another SSD trying.

It seems that nobody set up a pasword on his hard disk, while this is the only way to secure data, in case of the computer is stolen.

HELP !!!!

My manager urge me to setup a password, but I am afraid to loose again contact with the drive.

Mr Crucial ?????   Are U here ?

As a work around what about file system encryption, that would be just as secure (if not more secure).

Police were complaining that more criminals were using it making their job to retrieve any usable data very difficult.

Or try emailing / phoning Crucial support direct.
