Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

Well I'd think a downgrade tool would already be provided right ?

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

There'd be no point in providing the downgrade tool early because they've stated the upgrade is likely to wipe the drive.  So you'd downgrade and wipe the drive and then a week later upgrade and wipe the drive again?  I don't think you'd be happy to do that. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

Will TRIM work through the Intel Matrix storage driver with a single drive? This is important because if you don't use the Matrix drivers, NCQ isn't enabled and random read/writes suffer a lot.

I'm afraid not, no. It will when Intel update the drivers. But it doesn't yet.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

But...... Isn't NCQ useless on a SSD ?! No spinning discs, no heads, every bit is instantly ready to be read.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

One could assume so, however it might play a pertinent role, even if a small one.

On NCQ & SSDs:

"According to Intel, its SSDs are so fast that NCQ helps to compensate for latency encountered in the host PC"

But Intels are Intels and Indilinxs are Indilinxs.
