Assuming there are no issues over the next few days, we expect to be done and release it next week".

Additional testing is being completed by our controller partner, once we have the results from their testing we will post the firmware update".

Come on chaps this firmware should be available if there is no reported problems with it.

If Indilinx is the hold up can't someone at Crucial please phone them up and crack the whip.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

After the fiasco with 1711 I doubt anyone at Crucial or Indilix will want to rush this out without extensive testing.

There is extensive lab / controlled environment testing then there is real world everyday end user testing.

They think it's fixed and TRIM now works... cool release it as beta with a disclaimer, and we shall let them know.

If the feedback that comes back in is positive then it can be declared as a stable release at a later point.

Those of us running on 1711 with image backups on hand have little to lose by beta testing.

Especially if we could then downgrade back to 1571 from the new firmware if we did encounter a issue.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

looks as though ocz will be getting their firmware updates today according to 1 of the admins in their forums, so we MAY be getting firmware updates today too, i guess we'll have to see but in the contract ocz are supposed to get firmware updates first as they help in testing the firmwares for indilinx, but this firmware might be different as it isnt a regular performance boost firmware, it fixes the previous corrupt firmware.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

I believe it's been a month since the removal of the original 1711 version of firmware. Sigh. I know bug testing is a real hassle, but waiting for the new firmware isn't much fun either. I agree to whoever posted above and say if testing has been positive, why not release a BETA version of the updated firmware? It's not like people who "already" have 1711 have anything to lose.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

You are assuming that any bugs do not leave the drive in a a completely inoperable and unrecoverable state.  This would be worse than the present 1711.  The last firmware release was a big mess, and I can understand why Crucial and Indilinx want to be very sure that there are no problems.  Of course Crucial could be a bit more informative on status - ideally a daily update would be nice, even if it is mainly "no new information today".

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

Just looking on the OCZ forum and it looks like they are about to release their version of the update - this seems to be held-up by problems with their installer.  In theory this means Crucial should have something avaialble imminently.

Cant see any reason why Crucial cant?
