Have Crucial heard you said here ?
Seen at http://www.crucial.com/support/firmware.aspx :
a guide "Boot from CD" and another "Boot from USB" (with tips for using HP tool).
The 1819 firmware is different in each option :
- bootable CD = ISO bootable image
- bootable USB = .exe file + Dos boot
Not yet tried...

I just tried the ISO image and it booted fine on my Macbook. Only problem is that when I apply the firmware update I get the same error that other people are getting "ERROR FIRMWARE Download Failed''.
My drive is at 1819 when I boot into OSX BUT does this mean that the firmware has not been applied properly. Please Crucial put us out of our misery.

"ERROR FIRMWARE Download Failed'', but showing 1819, same here. I tried both methods to upgrade, usb and iso. Also terrible read write performance after supposed upgrade. The crucial wiper tool doesn't work on my system either, so that doesn't help.
I installed W7 on an old HDD, to try out 32-bit vs 64-bit, then installed 64-bit on the ssd, and the old HDD was running better than the ssd!!!!!!!!!! Not impressed. I loved this drive when i got it a month ago, but its gone from 235mbs read/190mbs write, to 90mbs/30mbs!!!!!!!!!!!!
If i can, i wil get my money back, i did not pay £200+ for a drive that can't match a HDD thats 5yrs old.
My latest error is that the drive isn't even being seen as a crucial drive in device manager anymore.

Delete the drive in device manager and let Windows redetect it. Make sure it's the entry under disk drives and NOT the storage controller - delete that and Windows probably won't boot again.
Also, what benchmark are you using? AS SSD doesn't seem to work properly on my drive and benches at 100 read / 20 write. In every other benchmark and in normal use my drive is fine though.

Thanks for replying, i didn't use your advice as it had already come back, but thanks anyway.
I was benching it with ATTO, Crystalmark and Everest. All of them were down by alot, except Everest buffered read, but then you'd expect that, wouldn't you? And Windows 7 'experience index' says my SSD is 5.9! It wouldn't be so bad if i could get the wiper tool to work, to at least try it, it's frustrating.
ATTO and Crystalmark have stopped working now! No idea why, they load but never get to the benchmark, always preparing...
Is it normal for an SSD to disconnect itself from your system if you have a BSOD? In other words, BSOD, restart, no drive present in bios, have to disconnect sata cable and power lead, reconnect, then it will work again? It's been doing this since day one, very annoying, if your overclocking.

Well... how often does your computer bluescreen?? Since Windows 2000, PC's don't blue screen as a matter of course unless they have a hardware fault or a driver issue (which is still hardware related)
And why is this annoying if you're overclocking? If you're implying that your overclock causes your PC to bluescreen, even occasionally, then your overclock is too high!
OCZ forums also have reports of drives vanishing on boot and they seem to think a lack of chipset core voltage is the issue which makes sense if you have an aggressive overclock as I'm sure you know boosting voltage allows you to overclock components higher at the expense of needing better cooling. Their recommendation is to boost your chipset voltage (at your own risk!). Personally I'd recommend you stop overclocking for a while and see where that gets you first so we at least know we're going in the right direction.

What are the errors shown in Event Viewer when you recover from BSOD? What error is listed on the Blue Screen? Have you opened your mini dump yet to see what information Windows has recorded for you about the error? Windows has provided to you the tools to find the problems you're having. You only need to use them. If you get another Blue Screen, copy the error listed on the screen and Google it. Then go into your Event Viewer and see what Windows has determined. If you still have no idea what's going on, copy and paste your mini dump file here.

Hi again...
Yes my system was overclocked, but everything else seemed fine. Anyway, my motherboard blew up last week! So whether it was on its way out or the chipset was too old to properly support an ssd (3yrs) i don't know, probably the first one.
Anyway my new board runs the wiper program now, on windows 7 as well, but i havnt benched the ssd yet....i darent!!!! I'm just enjoying having a newish pc, if i get awful benches again it will disturb my equilibrium! ![]()
Plus i've yet to put it in AHCI, as it was installed as ide, i'm lead to believe you can't just swap it over or it will fail to boot, so it needs a registry tweak or clean install?
I'm going to rerun the FW update, see if it works this time without an error.
Thanks again.
