We’ve been testing the new FW (that supports TRIM) and haven’t seen any issues to date. Assuming there are no issues over the next few days, we expect to be done and release it next week.
For customers who are running 1571 there is an upgrade to the new firmware. For the handful of people with 1711, they’ll need to go back to 1571 and then to the new firmware. We know it’s a little clunky but if you go directly from 1711 to the new firmware there are issues.

Good to hear. Will the upgrade to 1711 wipe the drive?

Ahh... the day is finally approaching! ![]()
I also share shareef777's question, will it be a destructive flash? I'm sure a lot of people are interested in that answer.

Will this fix the incompatibility issues with the MacBook Pro? I have returned 3 of these drives due to this issue but would buy one again if it was properly fixed.

Please answer the question about Garbage Collection. Except for one time, months ago, this questions is continuously ignored by Crucial.

No, not at the moment. This update will bring TRIM, TRIM with RAID only on some future firmware update.

The new firmware will not support garbage collection. We will offer a user initiated garbage collection tool following the release of the new firmware.
At this time it is likely that a firmware upgrade will reformat the SSD in the process. Even if that changes for the final version, we still strongly recommend that you back up all data on the SSD before doing the upgrade.
