Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

I've been waiting to buy my drive.  Should I wait for you to finish the firmware and buy the drive with the new firmware installed, or buy now and install the firmware next week?  If I bought now what firmware would the new drive come with?

Thanks for all of your hard work.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

It will most likely take weeks for SSDs to come with the new firmware installed. Most of them have 1571 but a few have 1711. It depends on where they are bought.

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

- Will there be a native-Mac firmware updating app? Or at least an ISO disk image that can be burned to a CD-R that will boot an Intel Mac?

- Will there be a native-Mac "user initiated garbage collection tool" app?

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

Just to be clear.  For those of us on the 1571 firmware, will an update to this new firmware WIPE THE DRIVE also.  I know that if you're on the 17xx, you will need to downgrade and then upgrade which is a wipe.  But, for those of us who havent, will we still wipe.

thanks

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

Hi to all, just bought a 64gb M225, (they sold out almost immediatley they came in here in the UK), and I am very impressed. I just wondered if the garbage collection utility that you hope to provide would work with raid? or would it be like trim and only work on single drives. The firmware by the way was 1571, so there should be no problem when the new firmware comes out, though I am in rush to flash just yet, its working fine. By the way, it says if you flash it is at your own risk, does that mean if it fails during the flash process the drive cannot be returned? I have flashed firmware many times on a variety of kit and never had a problem, but just a little worried if it failed I would be left with a problem.

Thanks, Brian

Re: Status update: Firmware upgrade

AFAIK yes, GC should work with RAID.
