mSATA SSD instalation problems

Hi, i just got a  Crucial mSATA SSD m4 256GB and after inserting it on the notebook windows mentioned that installed new Hardware but I still can no use it. It does not apear as a new drive anywhere...

I wanted to install windows on it:smileyfrustrated:

 

any help would be apreciated, thanks

 

my system specs:  Acer Aspire V3, windows 7 64 bit sp1  new notebook 1 week old...

Hi vasco1,

 

When you said that it's not showing as a hard drive can you confirm where you are looking for it?

 

Have you checked in disk management?  If you go to the start menu and in the "Search programs and files" section if you could type Disk Management and press enter.

 

This will bring up the disk management screen, you may see the mSATA listed here but it will need to be initialized, to do this you right click on the unallocated space next to the mSATA and hit initialize.

 

This should allow the drive to be seen in the system.  Can you also confirm that it's being detected by the BIOS?

Hi Junket,  Yes, that was the problem, the drive was recognized by windows but was not initialized, so thats what I did gave it a drive letter and it works just fine now.
