A couple of years ago I upgraded my memory from 512Mb to 1024mb using the Crucial module recommended, a Micron PC 2700 serial 8VDDT6464AG-335DB .
The upgrade appeared OK, CPUZ showing an installed memory of 1024Mb on slots 2 & 3. Recently, however I see that Task Manager and the System splash screen show only 512Mb installed. This is confirmed by Memtest86+.
While trying to solve this problem I was informed that the checksum for the original memory DIMM table was wrong. Would this create a conflict between the two DIMMs? (The original is a Melco 512Mb PC2700)
Both memory modules work individually and together - but I never have 1024Mb of useable memory.!
I still wish to upgrade my memory. If I replaced the Melco with the 1Gb module
Part #: CT12864Z335 • DDR PC2700 • CL=2.5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR333 • 2.5V •
would it be compatible with the earlier Micron module??
The motherboard supports two sockets only using DDR333, so I cannot upgrade to 3Gb by using three sockets nor is it cost effective to use two 1Gb modules and bin both the 512 ones.
Do you need any more info to check the compatibility of the 512 and 1Gb modules?

Huge surprise!!
I reassembled my computer wth the Micron in slot 1 and the Melco in slot 2 - and thecomputer now recognises 1048096 Mb of installed memory.
For the moment my problems are over.
