I just scanned my computer with Crucial's memory scanner and it says my computer can support up to 8GB of RAM.
The thing is, I've done the scan in the past and It said I could only support 4GB max. What's with the change? I haven't upgraded anything on my computer.
Here is the result of the scan.
I have a dell XPS 710 with an Intel E6600 Duo core proccessor (2.4ghz)
Motherboard is Dell OUY253 with nforce 570 SLI chipset (According to CPU-Z)
An upgrade to 8GB would be nice since I have Windows7 64-bit now.

Memory technology changes quickly, and eventually the manufacturer's original specifications (including memory type, speed, and maximum capacity) will become outdated. In your case, they have been updated to what the motherboard can handle, but what was not readily available at the time the XPS 710 came out.
You should be able to install 8GB in that computer, and fully enjoy your new operating system.
