Just upgraded RAM from (2) 256 mb to (2) 1 GB. Memory is in pairs. Removed old sticks from slots, installed new. Everything worked good. Much better speed. The next time I started the PC it froze at the black screen with Compac on it. Turned it off and restarted fine. This happened several more times which concerned me...this morning it happened and when I tried to re-start the PC will not respond. The "on" light is lite and the PC is making an unusual beep noise. I am assuming faulty sticks as it worked at first? Open to suggestions.

You should test your memory using MemTest86+. I use the floppy method and have never had issues with the program. If the memory does turn out bad, contact Crucial Customer Support for further assistance.
