Following adding 2 GB of Crucial RAM (Total 3 GB) Crucial scan identifies 4 x 512 = 2GB

Hi,

I have recently upgraded my PC with 2 GB RAM to the existing 2 x 512mb RAM to give 3 GB RAM.

On using the crucial scan it is teeling me there is only 2 GB of RAM made up of 4 x 512MB chips.

Thoughts and comments welcomed

Hi wilsuthers,

Could you please let us know the full CT part number (including extension) from the Crucial modules?  And also what system you are installing them on?  This will help us confirm compatibility.

Also, please try each of the new modules on their own in the first slot and check how much is recognised by the BIOS and Windows.  If they report 1GB each correctly, try just the two new modules together- check how much is recognised again and then add the originals and recheck.  The largest modules should be installed first.

Thanks
