Hi,
I have an issue where i get the following blue screen message:
***Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support

Has anyone seen this message before and know how to fix it?

Hi Lee,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your upgrade. The first thing we need to do is make sure you have the compatible memory.
Could you please confirm which model of laptop you have and the full CT part number from the Crucial label? Also, tell us a bit about the original memory; size, speed etc.
Once we know a bit more we can troubleshoot this further.
Thanks

Hi, apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
My system is a Lenovo ThinkPad R60, it originally shipped with 1024MB of DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM and according to your scanner it says that "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 2GB per slot".
Is the CT number the same as the one written on the static bag the memory came in? As I don't have the little screw driver to remove the panel covering the memory.
If so the number is: CT25564AC667.16FE
Thanks for getting back to me.
Regards.
Lee.

Also, one thing I have noticed is that it seems to happen much more frequently when videos play but it isn't exclusively when they are on.
Regards.
Lee.

Lee,
I am sorry it took a while before you received a response to your posts, and I apologize for the delay. After looking up the part and the system, I think the easiest solution for you would be to simply replace the memory module, since the hardware errors started after you installed it. Our Customer Support department can take care of that for you.
Be sure to use the proper link for your location, and reference this thread so they can see the troubleshooting you have done.

Hi Katana,
I have just received my replacement memory and fitted it, however, when I started Excel the same blue screen error message appeared. Could this be an issue with Vista?
Regards.
Lee.

Hi Katana.
Sorry about this, it actually seems to be happening more frequently now with no relation to what I am working on.
I have received the blue screen message 6 times today, is there anything I can run, diagnostic wise to try and track down the problem?
Regards.
Lee.

The odds of receiving two bad modules in a row are very slim, to say the least. Have you tested the new module in the other memory slot? If not, please do that, and leave the first slot empty. That will tell us if the problem is with the memory module, or with the first memory slot. If you are able to use the Crucial part in second memory slot without problems, take your original memory module and move it to the first slot, leaving the known good slot empty.
If the issue follows the Crucial module from slot to slot, you have probably beaten the very long odds and received a bad part. We will of course replace it for you. If the issue consistently happens whenever you install memory in a specific slot, you will unfortunately need to contact Lenovo for further assistance.

Hi.
The issue only seems to occur when both of the 2GB modules are installed.
If I remove either of them or put the original memory back into my laptop, the issue stops.
Regards.
Lee.
