Hi all,
I used the Crucial scanning tool to advise which ram modules I needed for my desktop pc and it recommended CT6464Z335.M8TFY so I bought a matched pair.
On opening the computer I see that the existing module is different.... fewer pins, two slots in the bottom.
However there are two blue plastic slots with 2.5V written on them, right next to the black plastic ram slots currently in use. The blue slots would accommodate the new modules, can I just fit them in these instead of where the old modules are? Removing the old module of course.
Yours hopefully!
Clarry.
Some more info:
Motherboard: ECS K7S5A 1.0
OS WindowsXP home.
Belarc advisor recognises 4 slots on board, one currently housing 1 x 256MB module.

Hi Clarry,
Your motherboard is what is referred to as a 'hybrid' board because it can support two types of memory. However, you cannot mix the two types. The Scanner will have shown you all compatible upgrades and this one would have been recommended as it is a newer, faster technology to what you currently have.
You can go ahead and install this new kit, but like you said, the original memory will have to be removed. You should see a good difference in performance with this.
Please let us know if you require any further support.
