All of your installation information on the website is focused on replacing a working drive with a Crucial SSD. But what to do if your current HDD (or SSD, for that matter) has failed and you're trying to replace it with a Crucial SSD? This is a far different animal, and it's hard for me to believe that it is all that rare.
I can tell you from many hours of head pounding that Acronis True Image isn't going to be much, if any, help to you. Of course, if you have bootable OS installation media, then you can install the SSD and then clean install the OS on the SSD and proceed from there.
But: a) Who has bootable OS installation media, and b) Even if you do, Acronis is likely to give you no help, esp. if the data area of the failed drive is corrupted.
