Thank you for your response.   I tried the memory that I purchased several times, but to no avail.  Luckily, my work PC did take the memory I purchased, so it won't go to waste.   I used the crucial scanner, and purchased the 4GB kit.  CT5510022.  This is for an Acer Veriton X275.  Windows 8.1 X64.  If that was a mistake, please let me know and maybe I can get it changed before it ships.   Thank You   Will ... I did a scan with Crucials scan tool, took the results and tried to buy a cheaper version of the memory...   Well, here I am again trying to remedy the situation.   The scan showed a 4GB kit DDR3 PC3-12800 unbuffered non-ecc.   I purchased DDR3-1600 PC3-12800.  I get one long beep, which I take it as a RAM problem.  So, if I go ahead and buy the crucial memory, will it work?  Perhaps I don't understand the numbers for the sticks I bought, but it seems like they should be identical, just a different brand.   Also, when I took the existing stick out, it reads a GDDR3, not DDR3.  I thought GDDR was graphics only, am I wrong? ...
