Update: I switched to AHCI mode, booted off a Win7 disk and used DiskPart to create/align partition, and re-installed XP Pro sp3. Performance seems to have improved. Apps load quickly, and resume from hibernation is much faster, but still no luck running AS SSD Benchmark or C_Wiper... I tried running both apps as administrator, to no avail. The only difference with this install as opposed to the install I did in IDE mode is that Wiper fails to run much quicker... With the previous install. Wiper would hang for almost a minute after I entered 'y' at the prompt. Now it instantly returns the same: 'can't be run on drive C:\.' I would love to get a benchmark of this new drive. Is there another free program I could use? Since I am running v006 (drive came with it), I don't need Wiper to begin with, do I?

I have just installed WinXP Pro sp3 on a 64G C300 (firmware 0006). The machine is a Dell Lattitude D530 that I use for on-site wired/wireless network troubleshooting, and some MS Office documents. I prefer to stick with XP pro for my purposes, and because this machine has only 1Gb ram. I have done a fair bit of reading here, but most/all of what I see pertains to Vista/Win7... The initial install was done in IDE mode (oops...), with all drivers from Dell site. All seems well, but the performance isn't a 'Vast' improvement over the original HDD... Problems: I cannot get 'AS SSD Benchmark' to run. I get an Application Error: "failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135)" c_wiper.exe reports: 'The device is not ready' Questions: Should I re-install in AHCI mode, or is there a way to change modes? Does XP sp3 set the correct offset?
